Shelter study

The Services and Health for Elderly in Long TERm care (SHELTER) study, is a project funded by the 7thFramework programme of the European Union.
The study is aimed to validate a comprehensive assessment tool, the Minimum Data Set for long term care residents (InterRAI-LTCF) as a methodology to assess the provision of care in nursing home in Europe.

This novel instrument has been developed building on the previously available instrument but with a European perspective.

The SHELTER study will product avalidated tool which can be used on a large scale as a common and standardised assessment instrument for nursing home residents in Europe, allowing to compare characteristics of residents in different countries, to assess quality of care, resources utilisation and patients outcomes.

The study will be performed in 9 countries: Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, France, Israel, The Netherlands, Spain (non funded site), United Kingdom.
